Birmingham International Film Society

Complete with a nice Spy-Movie-esque logo, The Birmingham International Film Society (or BIFS to make life easier) has a snazzy new website compete with their regular schedule of films. The film selection has stuff that you don’t usually get at a cinema and costs a fair sight less - £3.50/£2.50 (Concessions). So get yours from from Central Library, or call 0121 303 2323, or order online at www.birminghamboxoffice.com

BIFS are also another regular user of the Birmingham Library Theatre, which I find interesting as – out of my ignorance – I didn’t even know how to get there until recently. The venue itself is the perfect size for socialsing and watchng the film in a professional space. It’s not too small and not too big. The only thing is finding it and being put off by the look of it when you finally do. It’s a shame because the venue has so much going for it. All it really needs is some renovation, but I imagine that’s unlikely with Central Library’s fate not quite yet decided. Oh well, at least it’s got ‘character’.
